From February through April, my 4th and 5th grade students worked on composing their own songs. We started on paper, then after careful editing took a few trips to the computer lab to put our music into notation software! Using MuseScore (thanks Mr. Callahan!) the students were able to hear their songs with different instruments, varied tempos, and could fine-tune their melodies as they went along.
